"Tell me where you want to go, and I will take you there."
Jose, my Spanish neighbor from residence was determined to show me some sights of Melbourne on a lazy saturday afternoon. After booking our 7 day excursion to Perth with Vicky, Jose and I hit the big city. Ironically we both ended up at the immigration museum on Flinders Street. The two story museum was pretty bland other than the second floor African art exhibit which initiated an argument about the "real" size of Africa. According to Jose, Africa is bigger than America and China combined. Whatever Jose... Even though Jose has a couple months on me, ok he's been here since July, he still hasn't visited some prime Melbournian real estate. I educated him in the art of shopping. Melbourne arcades and laneways have some of the finest vintage shops anywhere. I've spent some fine afternoons procrastinating along Collins, Bourke and Elizabeth street, scoping out street fashion and future purchases. Arriving at Melbourne Central for the grand finale, Jose asked what my blog topic was going to be this week. We brainstormed some ideas while sitting in a fake rooftop garden overlooking the city. The garden looked more like a greenhouse with artificial plants, and paintings than anything else. Jose decided to give me a brief run down on writing a successful blog, since he apparently has two. Capping the day with a late night dinner in china town, I couldn't of asked for a more multicultural experience. The combination of shopping, eating and spanish rants reminded me why I love studying abroad.
