Mice? I didnt sign up for that!!!
Well these past few weeks have been...interesting. First of all, I can't actually believe we have been here for 6WEEKS! How mental! Time certainly is flying by! At this speed we'll be home in no time...
So what's been happening? It seems with Molly and I that every time something good happens it is cancelled out by something else happening which is prett damn annoying; last week we were really high spirited cause we managed to print out pictures and post them home - the man who did them was just lovely and he made us really really happy (YES we are very easily amused ok?!) Plus he told us how good the chippaties we made looked, awwwwwwwwww. he was nice. We were just having a really good day, then night came and not only did we hear, but we felt things moving in our room e.g. our beds...I don't really want to share my bed with my own feet because of how dirty they are so you can imagine my reaction when i saw a fricking rat crawling along my head board. Molly who sleeps at the top of our triple decker bunk bed (she has now migrated to the middle bunk) was rather freaked out (when i say freaked out she was practically hyperventalating to the extent of suffocation...) We had rats that managed to get from the top to the bottom of our bunks in the matter of second, im pretty sure they were some kind of super rats on acid or something. But yeah we didn't sleep very well that night.
Our project is well a tad...confusing, to say the least, i dont want to go on and on about it too much because it makes my head sore. But don't even worry guys! It's getting sorted! We think...watch this space :)
Last weekend was really good! We went to our lovely reps house in Kampala. And it was amazing seeing everyone, all 21 of us being together. And the food we got was just amazing! I actually had chicken. CHICKEN. Made me tres happy! I love chicken. On saturday we all went to an international school to go for a wee dip in the pool. It actually felt like we were on holiday in Spain, not at a school in Uganda. It was so unreal! Like I was just lookina around being amazed at how many white people there were! It was weird man! We had a good time though had some splashtastic fun! Haaaaa I sound sooooo weird! Splashtastic...
Sunday was even more unreal, a group of us went to Garden City and it was just like Union Square in Aberdeen. I was once again amazed...i had just come from a house where there was a real live shower and now i was in a shopping centre, it was just far too much to take in! Where has Garden City been all my life?! I had a ham sandwhich. HAM. I love ham. It was just sooooooo nice. We went to like a Ugandan Tescos and I was so amazed, once again, and all of the things I could have bought I bought rubber gloves...
We left Garden City :( and within the space of one short taxi journey back to the centre we were once again muzungus. The contrast of this country is mind boggling.
Interesting things that have happened...
- Someones sister thought I was beautiful and wanted to buy me something...pretty sure she was a raging lesbian.
- I got a Molly Ashers Own rendition of a Queen Song, pretty amazing
- Becky got a mouthfull of water spat at her by some drunk man on the street
- I lost at contract wist. Miserably.
- I had 75 mosquito bites on my hands, feet, arms and legs some kind of record?
- Molly found 2 rats between her mattresses when we came home from Kampala
- We got our phones unlocked (the man tried to charge 80,000/= we did not pay that) so yeah TEXT ME...+256788614463, its the right thing to do
- One of our P6s cemented up the rat hole in our room
- My daddy called me :D:D:D:D
- Molly nearly drowned on numerous occasions whilst swimming, much to my amusement.
Future Plans, yehaaaaaaaaaa...
