We made it, we made it! Thank goodness, because I don't think I could have made in that airport another minute. Once of the family arrived we headed straight to the hotel. And that was about all the energy we had! We ordered pizza, by 5:30 we had our pjs on, and by 6:00 pm we were fast asleep. Twelve hours later we were up and at em' for our first day filled with adventure.
On Monday we got up and had our first city tour. Boy were we in for a treat! The weather was sooo chilly. I warned them all to pack clothes and was I not kidding! The wind was blowing and chill can getcha if you are not in the sun. Although the sun does have a really nice warmth to it, it was sure hard to say toasty when the sun went down. Nevertheless, it didn't spoil our time.
Within the tour we were able to make stops at famous spots in Melbourne (WWI Memorial, Captain Cook's Cabin, Conservatory). Lucky for me I was able to brief everyone the History of Australia, considering all I had to do what recite my History Exam!
Later in the afternoon we went to Kangaroo farm, Koala conservation park, and the penguin march. It was so fun to see the family enjoying feeding the kangaroos and smiling with every koala they saw. Ma and Aunt Anne got a little treat when they were kicked in the rear by one of the territorial kangaroos. Once the sun had gone down we were in for a real treat! The penguins were washing up shore to head back to their homes. It was 'magical' as Katie would say! The tiny 12 inch penguins waddled all the way up the beach in packs. They were just the cutest little things!
After a long day of adventure, we were soon off to bed. The next morning we woke up and had the day to explore the city. We made our way to the Queen Victoria Markets for some shopping. After we were finished, we made our way through several souvenirs shops throughout the town.
That evening we were planning to make it to one of the Melbourne shows. But as it turns out we weren't quite prepared. Nevertheless, we made way to dinner and walk throughout the town.
Tomorrow is our flight to Cairns where we are hoping to enter into some 80 degree weather! We have lots planned upon our arrival.
Hope to keep everyone updated!
