The second day I had a great idea of going on the death road which I really wanted to do, but decided to cycle down.
if I had known how hard it was going to be going downhill and hitting massive rocks I may have reconsidered.
But me being me, I got on with it and fell off the sodding bike three times, first two times not to bad but the last fall I grazed my elbow and got my leg caught under the bike, which hurt!!
Ended up somehow, I don't know how but pulled the bike up and freed my leg.
Was thinking of giving up and taking the van down, but again me being me was not going to be defeated so plodded onwards downhill.
Was only another 45 mins and was at the finish.
The views were amazing and I conquered the death road….Yes it is as bad as they say esp when there are two vehicles on the road, however I didn't see many on my way down.
Started at 4500m and came down to around 1000m.
You definitely undertand why its called the death road especially with sheer drops that you see, but I was trying hard to concentrate on where I was going and not on the drops.
But was an experience that I won't be challenging myself to do it again.
As you can imagine the next few days or shall I say weeks I was sore and full of bruises all over my legs, arms and back….:D
But glad I did it, as have wanted to see the death road for a long time….Jeremy Clarkson did it in a 4wd and I did it on an off road bike!!!
